Answering “yes” to several of the following questions could be an indicator that you are a compulsive overeater.
- Do you frequently eat large quantities of food in a short amount of time?
- Have you lost a significant amount of weight by restricting food, only to gain it back by eating too much?
- Do you eat in secret so as not to feel judged by others about what or how much you’re eating?
- Do you feel out of control when eating certain foods?
- Do you often eat so much that you feel ill?
- Do you often eat when you’re not hungry?
- Do you feel shame, embarrassment, or guilt about the way you eat and/or your weight?
- Do you eat a normal amount in front of others only to make up for it later?
- Do you spend a lot of time thinking about food?
- Do you frequently think about how much better your life would be if you were thinner?
