Are You a Compulsive Overeater?

Answering “yes” to several of the following questions could be an indicator that you are a compulsive overeater.

  1. Do you frequently eat large quantities of food in a short amount of time?
  2. Have you lost a significant amount of weight by restricting food, only to gain it back by eating too much?
  3. Do you eat in secret so as not to feel judged by others about what or how much you’re eating?
  4. Do you feel out of control when eating certain foods?
  5. Do you often eat so much that you feel ill?
  6. Do you often eat when you’re not hungry?
  7. Do you feel shame, embarrassment, or guilt about the way you eat and/or your weight?
  8. Do you eat a normal amount in front of others only to make up for it later?
  9. Do you spend a lot of time thinking about food?
  10. Do you frequently think about how much better your life would be if you were thinner?
